I had a dentist appointment first thing this morning. Dentist went well. My teeth looked pretty good, just needed a cleaning really badly! And they want me to get a new nightguard, just to be on the safe side but said I can wait til after I have the baby because the impressions might irritate my gums. I managed to get to my DA on time. However, they decided to have me wait, have the ultrasound on time at 11 and then have my DA after. So I had to wait an hour for the ultrasound time. I drank the glucose stuff (either cherry or fruit punch) and it wasn’t too bad. They gave it to me in a little Dixie cup - with Patrick I know I had to drink a lot more. They did a finger prick and read it right there on the little machine and I scored 125, so I passed with 20 points to spare. The 3D/4D was fun but also very disappointing. This little boogar would not cooperate. He kept throwing his arms over his face! Plus the umbilical cord was in his face. The tech kept having me try laying different ways, walking around, etc but he still kept his hands in his face. He also loves to suck his thumbs. And at one point he grabbed his foot, put it in his mouth and then stretched it over his head. So not only were his arms and cord in the way, but his leg and foot were too. Argh! We hardly got any pics. Erin has to upload them tonight when he gets home. The other thing that was a bit disappointing… He’s not head down as I thought. His head is up, butt is down and he was kind of folded in half. Explains why I feel kicks up high even though that’s where his head is. The doctor isn’t concerned about it yet since there’s still time for him to turn. I certainly hope he does. I DO NOT want another c-section. I absolutely hated it last time. I told the doctor I thought she had forgotten about me because I didn’t see her until about 12:30 or so. Otherwise everything is going good. Heart rate was about 138 and I am measuring perfectly. I’ve gained about 20 pounds total. And I got the lovely RH shot.
I will finally be going back to the doctor next week! Erin is off contract and an official employee at his job, so we get new insurance starting on the 1st. Yay! I haven’t been to the doctor since the ultrasound in April. We are also going to get the 3D ultrasound done next week and I am looking forward to it (so is Erin). We did manage to find a carseat that works with our minivan. So we don’t need that anymore and I took it off the registry. I’ve also been starting to stock up on diapers. We’re hoping that since Erin has a 4 day weekend for the holiday that we can get the baby’s room all set up. Then after I go for my 2 weeks Reserve duty, I can come home and get my bag packed. It will just be a giant waiting game after that. Hopefully we will be a lot more prepared than we were last time! I have really started to get the overwhelming feeling that this baby isn’t going to make it until Sept 18th. I could be completely wrong, though. What a miserable thought, though. He seems to have already dropped, too. I had this same feeling with Patrick, thinking he’d be about a week early. Well, he actually came earlier - 3 weeks early. I guess we’ll just wait and see what happens.
Not much to write about right now. This pregnancy is going by fast! We registered at Target yesterday. Obviously we don’t need much since this is our 2nd and another boy. But what we need most is the car seat. I tried to buy a used one but it won’t work with our minivan.
Well, we managed to agree with a name on my very short list (it only had 5 names on it). It’s not a name I love but it’s the best out of what I looked at (I hated most of them) and I think it will definitely grow on me. It’s not terribly common but it’s not real original either… Kind of like Patrick. And it’s Irish, too. Too bad you will all have to wait til he’s born to find out what it is. I am sure most, if not all know we are having another boy. We haven’t decided on a name yet. That will probably take a long time since I think we aren’t too fond of most boys names. You can see theĀ ultrasound picsĀ here: http://e-j.fortenberry.net/photos/v/baby/2006/19wk-sonogram/. We were lucky and were able to get a couple of 3D pics. I am starting to feel better. I am only taking meds 1-2 times a day vs the 3 times a day (2 pills) I was taking before. I still can’t eat certain things, though. It’s actually kind of a good thing since it means I haven’t gained a whole lot of weight yet. We’ve been trying to get some things for the baby. Luckily, we really don’t need much. The main thing right now will be a small dresser and a new infant carseat. I tried to buy a used carseat but the older ones don’t work with our minivan. Patrick talks about his “baby brodder” a lot and all the things he’s going to do and teach him. I hope he’s as excited when the baby is actually born. « Previous Page — Next Page » |
